Day 1. Tuesday We travel to the Isle of Man from Heysham to Douglas on the Isle of Man Steam Packet.
Day 2. Wednesday Today we enjoy a guided tour of the island. The guide will give you an opportunity to learn a little more about the fascinating and sometimes turbulent past of the island. The ancient Celts, Vikings and Christians left the island with a legacy of their lifetime and all around you will find evidence of these early settlers, Celtic crosses, medieval fortresses, and Viking burial grounds. Just 33 miles long by 13 miles wide, the Isle of Man has retained its independence with its own currency, stamps, government and even language.
Day 3. Thursday Following breakfast, we enjoy a scenic journey on the Isle of Man Steam Railway from Douglas to Port Erin. The Isle of Man Steam Railway is the longest narrow gauge steam line in Britain that still uses its original locomotives and carriages. The three-foot narrow-gauge railway was opened in 1873 and runs through the Island’s charming countryside between the Island’s capital and a range of destinations in the south. On arrival in Port Erin, there will be free time to explore the seaside village, including the Railway Museum which is free with your rail ticket. The museum charts the history of the steam powered railway from its inception in 1873 to the present day including the now defunct lines which used to serve Peel, Ramsey and Foxdale.
Day 4. Friday Enjoy a day at leisure or we may offer an optional excursion (charge applicable). Your driver will provide you with further information.
Day 5. Saturday We depart and return home.
Passengers do not need a passport to travel to the Isle of Man but are advised to take a form of identity. Useful means of identification when travelling on this route are passport, driving licence or a bus pass.
