Day 1. Tuesday We travel to the Isle of Man from Heysham to Douglas on the Isle of Man Steam Packet.
Day 2. Wednesday Today we enjoy a fascinating guided tour of the Isle of Man, uncovering the island’s rich heritage and captivating stories. Our knowledgeable guide will offer insight into the island’s intriguing and often turbulent past, shaped by waves of ancient Celts, Norse invaders, and early Christian settlers. Their legacy can still be seen today in the form of mysterious Celtic crosses, weathered medieval fortresses, and Viking burial grounds scattered across the landscape. Despite its modest size – just 33 miles long and 13 miles wide – the Isle of Man has proudly retained its independence for centuries. It boasts its own parliament (Tynwald), currency, stamps, and even a revived native language, Manx Gaelic. As you journey around the island, you'll experience a unique blend of history and culture.
Day 3. Thursday Following breakfast, we enjoy a visit to the charming seaside town of Peel, affectionately known as ‘Sunset City’ thanks to its spectacular west-facing views and breathtaking sunsets over the Irish Sea. Peel boasts a beautiful sandy beach, a bustling harbour, and the dramatic ruins of Peel Castle, which sits proudly on St Patrick’s Isle, guarding the bay. The town is also home to the Isle of Man’s only Cathedral, along with several fascinating museums highlighting its maritime and Viking heritage. With a range of cafés and restaurants serving the island’s freshest local produce, Peel offers a delightful mix of history, scenery, and Manx hospitality. On our return, we enjoy a short stop in Castletown, a harbour town with winding streets and picturesque fishing cottages lining the waterfront.
Day 4. Friday Enjoy a day at leisure to explore more of Douglas and the Isle of Man at your own pace.
