Itinerary

Day 1. Thursday We travel to Hatfield with a stop at Knebworth House & Gardens, one of England’s most cherished stately homes. Residence of the Lytton family since 1490, Knebworth is known for its literary heritage, stunning architecture, and legendary rock concerts. The original Tudor manor was transformed in 1843 by Victorian novelist Sir Edward Bulwer Lytton, author of the phrase “The pen is mightier than the sword.” Inside, discover tales of art, politics, and family legacy, surrounded by beautiful gardens. After your visit, we continue to Hatfield, where you’ll check in to our elegant Art Deco hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening.

Day 2. Friday After breakfast, we head to the De Havilland Aircraft Museum for tea or coffee on arrival, followed by a two-hour guided tour with an expert guide. Celebrating a name synonymous with aviation, the museum traces de Havilland’s vital role in aircraft innovation, from WW2 to the modern era. Discover legendary aircraft including the Tiger Moth and Comet. In the afternoon, we visit the RAF Museum London – the UK’s only national museum dedicated to the Royal Air Force. Through immersive films, interactive exhibits, and rare artefacts, explore the RAF’s first 100 years and the people who shaped its legacy.

Day 3. Saturday Enjoy a full day at the magnificent Hatfield House, a stunning Jacobean mansion set within acres of beautiful parkland. Once home to Elizabeth I, the house is steeped in Elizabethan and Victorian political history and features an impressive collection of art, tapestries, historic armour, and antique furnishings. Outside, wander through formal gardens, follow woodland trails, or relax in one of the picnic areas. With time to explore at your own pace, this is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in England’s royal and architectural heritage, right on the doorstep of your hotel in the historic heart of Hertfordshire.

Day 4. Sunday Today we visit the vibrant cathedral city of St Albans, rich in history and charm. Dominated by its beautiful 11th-century cathedral, the city is home to Roman ruins, medieval architecture, bustling markets, and leafy parks. Explore the Verulamium Museum, walk ancient streets, and discover a mix of heritage and modern-day culture. Whether you're interested in Roman Britain or simply soaking up the atmosphere in a cosy café, St Albans offers plenty to enjoy. With time to browse local shops or stroll the picturesque centre, it’s a delightful day out in one of England’s most historic yet lively cities.

Day 5. Monday We begin our journey home with a memorable stop in beautiful Cambridge. Celebrated for its world-class university, the city offers a rich blend of stunning architecture, academic heritage, and peaceful green spaces. Explore the compact city centre, where ancient colleges, cobbled streets, and picturesque bridges line the River Cam. Stroll along the scenic “Backs,” visit historic chapels, or relax with a coffee in one of the many inviting cafés. Cambridge has inspired generations of great minds, including Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, and Stephen Hawking. After time to explore at your leisure, we continue our journey home.
