Day 1. Monday We travel to Harrogate via a break in Knaresborough. Free bar included from 18:00 and 21:00.
Day 2. Tuesday After breakfast, we enjoy a visit to the historic city of York, renowned for its exquisite architecture, majestic Gothic cathedral, and maze of quaint cobbled streets. Step 2,000 years into the past as you explore the awe-inspiring York Minster, delve into the city’s fascinating Viking heritage, or uncover a different slice of history at the National Railway Museum. Follow in the footsteps of William the Conqueror at Clifford’s Tower, or browse the independent boutiques and charming cafés nestled in The Shambles - one of Europe’s best-preserved and most atmospheric medieval streets. Free bar included from 18:00 to 21:00.
Day 3. Wednesday Tuck into a hearty English breakfast, then enjoy a visit to Skipton - renowned for its impressive medieval castle and bustling Wednesday market. The market’s roots stretch back to medieval times, when King John granted a Royal Charter allowing ‘The Lord of the Honour’ of Skipton Castle to hold a fair on the High Street. Today, the market brings the town to life with colourful stalls selling everything from artisan cheeses, to traditional Yorkshire woollen blankets. Beyond the market, be sure to explore Skipton Castle, one of the most complete and best-preserved medieval castles in England. Free bar included from 18:00 and 21:00.
Day 4. Thursday After breakfast, we enjoy a visit to the picturesque market town of Richmond. Standing proudly at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, Richmond is one of Britain’s most beautiful and vibrant market towns. With its fine historic buildings, sweeping cobbled marketplace, and leafy riverside views, it’s a delight to explore at your leisure. Overlooking the town, Richmond Castle - one of the finest and earliest Norman fortresses in Britain - offers breathtaking views across the Dales and a fascinating glimpse into centuries of remarkable history. We return to the hotel and enjoy a delicious cream tea. Free bar included from 18:00 and 21:00.
Day 5. Friday We enjoy some free time in Harrogate this morning. We depart later this afternoon and return home.
