Day 1. Friday We depart this morning and travel to the historic city of Oxford. Known as the "City of Dreaming Spires," Oxford has been a center of learning for over 800 years and is home to Britain’s oldest university. Discover the city’s rich cultural heritage, from ancient Egyptian mummies and contemporary art at the Ashmolean Museum, to fascinating natural history and anthropology collections at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History and the Pitt Rivers Museum. You might also explore the atmospheric ruins of Oxford Castle or stroll beneath the iconic Bridge of Sighs. Later this afternoon, we continue our journey to High Wycombe and check in at the Holiday Inn High Wycombe. This evening, relax and enjoy a delicious three-course dinner at the hotel.
Day 2. Saturday Today, we visit the magnificent Blenheim Palace, beautifully transformed for the festive season. Themed displays, seasonal music, twinkling decorations, and joyful celebrations bring the palace to life in true holiday style. Browse the charming Christmas Market set in the Great Court, offering unique gifts, crafts, and seasonal treats. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and masterpiece of Baroque architecture, Blenheim is home to the 12th Duke of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Surrounded by landscaped parkland and exquisite formal gardens, the palace offers a truly magical experience at this time of year. The illuminated Trail is not included in the entrance.
Day 3. Sunday After breakfast, we travel to Windsor for a visit to the iconic Windsor Castle - the world’s largest and oldest inhabited castle. Founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, the castle has been expanded and restored by many monarchs over the centuries. Today, it remains a working royal residence and a site of national significance. Explore its opulent State Apartments, and the grounds steeped in royal history. Windsor Castle continues to play an important ceremonial role and has housed 40 monarchs to date. Later this afternoon, we begin our journey home, bringing to a close a memorable weekend of history, culture, and festive cheer. Please Note: St George’s Chapel, is closed to visitors on a Sunday.
Itinerary Change: The holiday will no longer visit Waddesdon Manor, and has been replaced with Windsor Castle.
