Day 1. Saturday We depart and travel to Llangollen for an included canal cruise. Sit back and relax as the boat carries you gently through the scenic Vale of Llangollen and across the iconic Pontcysyllte Aqueduct - a masterpiece of engineering by Thomas Telford. Built between 1795 and 1805, this remarkable structure rises 126ft (38m) above the River Dee, making it the highest navigable aqueduct in the UK. Its striking form contrasts with the surrounding natural beauty, yet blends in perfectly with the landscape. Later this afternoon, we continue to Mold and check in at the Beaufort Park Hotel. This evening, enjoy a three-course meal.
Day 2. Sunday Following breakfast, we travel home via the Anderton Boat Lift. Built by Edwin Clark in 1875, this Victorian engineering masterpiece was designed to carry cargo boats 50 feet between the River Weaver and the Trent and Mersey Canal. Our 75-minute experience includes a cruise along the Weaver Navigation and a ride on the lift itself. On board, enjoy a fascinating commentary detailing the lift’s history and mechanics as you witness this unique structure in action. One of only two working boat lifts in the UK, it’s rightly known as one of the ‘Seven Wonders of the Waterways'. We depart later this afternoon to make our journey home.
Excursion days are subject to change and will be confirmed with your final travel documents.
