Day 1. Saturday We depart and visit Durham, a city where medieval history blends with vibrant modern culture. Discover winding cobbled streets and a scenic peninsula crowned by the magnificent Durham Cathedral and Castle World Heritage Site. Experience the charm of this quintessential English university city at your own pace - enjoy a tranquil riverside walk or cruise, or immerse yourself in the atmosphere with inviting cafés, unique boutiques, fascinating galleries, and local museums. We depart later this afternoon for the journey to Washington and the Holiday Inn Washington. This evening enjoy a three-course evening meal.
Day 2. Sunday We depart after breakfast and travel home via Beamish, the world-famous open-air museum set in 300 acres of beautiful countryside. Beamish vividly brings to life the North of England as it was in the early 1800s and 1900s. Meet knowledgeable, costumed staff who share fascinating stories of everyday life across the decades. Explore the Edwardian Town, Pit Village, and travel by vintage tram or old-fashioned bus. Experience first-hand how the Industrial Revolution reshaped communities and transformed agricultural life across the region in this immersive museum. We depart later this afternoon to make our journey home.
