Day 1. Friday We depart and travel to Waddesdon Manor with included entrance. Waddesdon, a French Renaissance-style château, was built in the 1870s by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild to house his art treasures and entertain the fashionable world. His collection of English and Dutch paintings and French decorative arts was amongst the finest in the world and can be seen today within the Manor’s richly decorated interiors. We depart later this afternoon for the journey to Oxford and the Courtyard by Marriott Oxford South. This evening enjoy a three-course evening meal.
Day 2. Saturday Today we enjoy a visit to Oxford. Home to scholars for more than 800 years, Oxford is home to Britain’s oldest university and has a wealth of other historic attractions. Explore culture, Egyptian mummies and contemporary art at the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology, delve into the past at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History and the Pitt Rivers Museum, or step back in history among the Norman ruins of Oxford Castle. Admire the architecture of the City of Spires, wander beneath the Bridge of Sighs and bask in the wonders of the Bodleian Libraries before discovering its eclectic foodie scene, meandering waterways and lush green spaces.
Day 3. Sunday We depart after breakfast and travel to Blenheim Palace with included entrance. Home to the 12th Duke of Marlborough and his family and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, Blenheim Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site boasting a long and diverse history. A masterpiece of Baroque architecture, landscaped Parkland and stunning Formal Gardens, Blenheim Palace provides an awe-inspiring experience for visitors. Explore over 2000 acres of ‘Capability’ Brown Parkland and 90 acres of award-winning Formal Gardens. We depart later this afternoon.
