With its rich and colourful past, Scone Palace is one of Scotland’s most important stately homes. Fifteen hundred years ago, it was the capital of the Picts. In the centuries that followed, it became the seat of parliaments and the crowning place of the Kings of Scots - including Macbeth and Robert the Bruce. Later this afternoon, we enjoy a scenic drive north to Aberdeen, known as the Granite City, where we spend three nights at the Hilton Aberdeen TECA, with dinner, bed, and breakfast included.
Day 4. Friday: Today, we journey into the heart of Royal Deeside to explore one of Scotland’s most treasured landmarks – the magnificent Balmoral Estate. Here, you’ll find an exquisite collection of royal portraits, fine china, and historic artefacts, each telling stories from centuries of monarchy.
Later, we continue to the enchanting riverside village of Ballater, nestled in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park and surrounded by soaring peaks and forested hills. This picturesque village, with its elegant Victorian architecture and royal connections, has long been favoured by the Royal Family. Stroll through streets lined with charming shops holding royal warrants, enjoy the relaxed Highland atmosphere, and take in views of the River Dee gently winding through the village. With its blend of heritage, natural beauty, and regal charm, Ballater offers the perfect spot to unwind, and perhaps feel the quiet presence of royalty past and present.
