Day 1. Sunday: An early start this morning as we make our way to the port of Holyhead for our relaxing and scenic crossing to Dublin. Upon arrival in Ireland’s vibrant capital, we journey onward to the outskirts of the city, where we’ll settle in for a comfortable overnight stay with dinner, bed, and a hearty breakfast included.
Day 2. Monday: We set off southwards to Kilkenny, one of Ireland’s most vibrant and cosmopolitan cities - a true jewel nestled in the heart of Ireland’s Ancient East. Take time to wander its medieval streets, admire the stunning castle, and soak up the lively atmosphere. After exploring Kilkenny’s unique character, we continue our journey through Ireland’s breathtaking countryside, rolling hills, and picturesque vistas. Later, we arrive in Waterford, where you’ll settle into the welcoming comfort of the Treacys Hotel for three nights, complete with delicious dinners and hearty breakfasts - an ideal base for discovering the many treasures of this region.
Day 3. Tuesday: This morning, we step back in time with a visit to the Waterford & Suir Valley Railway in Bilberry, where we board a charming narrow-gauge train for a scenic one-way journey along the tranquil banks of the River Suir. Sit back and soak in the views as the countryside glides by on the way to the magnificent Mount Congreve Gardens. Here, we enjoy a one-hour guided tour of what is widely regarded as one of the finest gardens in Ireland - home to over 3,000 species of plants and a dazzling display of colour in every season. After exploring this horticultural gem, we return to Waterford via the stunning coastal route through Tramore and along the dramatic Copper Coast, a UNESCO Global Geopark known for its rugged cliffs, hidden coves, and geological wonders.
Day 4. Wednesday: Today, enjoy a free day to uncover the rich heritage and charm of Waterford - Ireland’s oldest city. This fascinating walled city blends medieval intrigue with Georgian elegance, offering a captivating journey through centuries of history. At its heart lies the Viking Triangle, the city’s ‘old town,’ where the footprint of the original 10th-century settlement is still clearly visible. Wander its cobbled streets and discover iconic landmarks such as Reginald’s Tower - Ireland’s oldest civic building and a powerful symbol of Viking heritage. Don’t miss the city’s graceful 18th-century gems, including the Chamber of Commerce, stately City Hall, and the beautifully preserved Bishop’s Palace. With every corner telling a story, Waterford is the perfect place to step into the past while enjoying the present.
Day 5. Thursday: We depart Waterford this morning and begin our return journey home, travelling through the ever-changing Irish countryside, with its rolling green hills, charming villages, and patchwork fields. Along the way, we’ll enjoy a short but memorable break in Dublin, Ireland’s vibrant capital city. Take some time to stretch your legs, perhaps explore a few local sights, browse for souvenirs, or simply enjoy a coffee or a pint of Guinness and soak up the city atmosphere. Later, we continue to our comfortable hotel located on the outskirts of Dublin, where we’ll enjoy a relaxing final evening in Ireland, complete with dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6. Friday: We depart early, journeying towards Dublin Port to begin the final leg of our adventure. Enjoy a full, hearty breakfast onboard the ferry as you relax and take in views. As the ferry sails away, we reflect on unforgettable memories made and the magic of Ireland that will stay with us long after we arrive home.
Passports: British or Irish citizens travelling on the Irish Sea routes do not need a passport to travel to Britain or Ireland but must have Photographic Identification. Useful means of identification when travelling on this route are passport, driving licence and a bus pass.
Travel Insurance: All passengers must be in possession of fully comprehensive travel insurance.
