Day 1. Monday We travel to Newtonmore.
Day 2. Tuesday Enjoy an included journey on the charming Strathspey Steam Railway. We begin with a leisurely drive to Aviemore, where you’ll have free time to explore this popular Highland resort before boarding the vintage steam train to Broomhill. Hauled by steam, the journey travels through the picturesque village of Boat of Garten and along a beautifully restored ten-mile stretch of the original Highland Railway Line. Revived by a dedicated team of volunteers, this nostalgic experience transports you back to a bygone era - when steam whistles echoed, carriage doors slammed shut, and the familiar click-clack of the rails set the rhythm of the journey. We also include entrance to the fascinating open-air Highland Folk Museum, where you can experience Highland life from the 1700s to the 1950s.
Day 3. Wednesday Today, we embark on the breathtaking Kyle Line, one of Europe’s most stunning rail journeys - praised by Michael Palin himself. Our adventure begins as we board the train at Dingwall and wind through wild moorlands and majestic mountain landscapes toward the charming Kyle of Lochalsh, the gateway to the Isle of Skye. The final stretch of the journey is truly spectacular, carved dramatically through solid rock and cliffs, revealing breathtaking views of rugged coastline and shimmering waters as the train approaches Kyle Pier, marking the journey’s dramatic end. While the route is operated by a comfortable diesel train, the scenery remains utterly captivating and unforgettable. Please note, the excursion may operate in reverse, offering equally stunning views from every angle.
Day 4. Thursday Following a leisurely breakfast, we travel to Loch Ness for a relaxing 50-minute cruise, where we’ll take in the spectacular scenery and keep watch for the elusive Nessie. Departing from Fort Augustus at the southern tip of the loch, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of its deep, mysterious waters and surrounding Highland landscapes. Don’t forget your camera - this is one of the most iconic and photogenic spots in Scotland. After the cruise, we continue to the village of Drumnadrochit to visit the newly opened Loch Ness Centre. Here, you can journey through 500 million years of history, as an immersive tour explores the science, legend, and intrigue behind one of the world’s most enduring mysteries - uncovering the truth about Nessie through exhibitions and compelling storytelling.
Day 5. Friday We depart and return home.
