Discover the hidden gems of Southwest Wales, a region often overlooked but bursting with rich heritage and breathtaking natural beauty. Our journey includes a visit to the stunning Gower Peninsula, the UK’s very first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Here, you’ll encounter a dramatic blend of wild, open moors, rugged limestone cliffs, and pristine golden sandy beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see. Gower is a geological treasure trove, where inspiring landscapes meet a captivating coastline, offering endless opportunities for exploration and adventure. Whether you’re wandering secluded coves, spotting diverse wildlife, or soaking in panoramic views, this remarkable corner of Wales promises unforgettable moments, peaceful escapes, and a true connection with nature’s timeless beauty and spirit.

Itinerary

Day 1. Monday We travel to Swansea.

Day 2. Tuesday Following breakfast, we include a guided coach tour of the beautiful Gower Peninsula. Now designated as the Gower National Landscape, this area of outstanding natural beauty was the UK’s very first AONB, established in 1956. We then continue to the Gower Heritage Centre for a fascinating guided tour of the centre and its historic mill. To complete the visit, enjoy a traditional cream tea featuring tea or coffee, Bara Brith, Welsh cakes, freshly baked scones, and jam with cream - a true taste of Welsh hospitality. This memorable experience offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, history, and local culture to delight all the senses.

Day 4. Wednesday Enjoy a visit to Aberglasney Gardens, made famous by the BBC series A Garden Lost in Time. At its heart is the UK's only surviving Elizabethan Cloister Garden. Explore 10 acres of over 20 garden styles, from formal to woodland and exotic, plus the restored ground floor of Aberglasney’s Grade II listed mansion. On the return journey, stop in Llanelli to visit Parc Howard Museum, which showcases the town’s inventive spirit and entrepreneurial past. The museum houses the world’s largest public display of Llanelly Pottery and a fine collection of paintings by renowned Welsh artists. A truly memorable cultural day out.

Day 4. Thursday Today, enjoy some free time exploring Swansea, Wales’ second-largest city, beautifully set along a five-mile sweep of Swansea Bay. The city centre is a vibrant hub, boasting a variety of shops, attractions, and a fabulous market. Later this afternoon, we continue to the Penderyn Swansea Copperworks Distillery for a fascinating guided tour. Discover the story behind Penderyn, learn how their award-winning whisky is crafted, and explore what makes it so unique. See the historic 'copper tunnel,' the mill, mash tun, innovative single copper-pot Penderyn Faraday stills, and a pair of pot stills. The tour concludes with a delightful tasting session.

Day 5. Friday We depart after breakfast and return home.

Excursion days are subject to change and will be confirmed with your final travel documents.
