Day 1. Monday We travel to Llandrindod Wells.
Day 2. Tuesday Following breakfast, we visit the charming Victorian seaside resort of Aberystwyth, known for its lovely beaches, scenic promenade, and well-preserved Georgian and Victorian architecture. Enjoy time to explore the town at your leisure. Later this afternoon, we embark on a memorable journey aboard the Vale of Rheidol Railway. This historic narrow-gauge steam train travels 12 miles from Aberystwyth to Devil’s Bridge, climbing 700 feet through some of Wales’ most breathtaking scenery. The journey offers stunning views of rugged hills, wooded valleys, and waterfalls, making it an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages.
Day 3. Wednesday Today we enjoy a guided tour of the stunning Elan Valley, located on the southern edge of the Cambrian Mountains in Mid Wales. Accompanied by a knowledgeable Park Ranger, our circular tour highlights the area’s spectacular scenery, famous dams, and remarkable Victorian architecture. The six Elan Valley dams are considered one of the greatest civil engineering feats of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The tour offers fascinating insights into the area's history, nature, and innovation. Later this afternoon, we return to Llandrindod Wells, where you’ll have free time to explore this charming Victorian town at your leisure.
Day 4. Thursday This morning, we head south for a 6-mile return vintage steam train journey from Pant to Torpantau on the Brecon Mountain Railway. The route follows the Taf Fechan Reservoir before climbing into the Brecon Beacons. Our 90-minute trip includes a 35-minute stop at Pontsticill Station, with time to visit the Lakeside Café and Steam Museum. Back at Pant Station, enjoy free time for lunch at the Tearoom and a visit to the locomotive workshop. In the afternoon, we visit the award-winning Penderyn Distillery for a guided tour and tasting, learning about its history and what gives Penderyn whiskies their unique flavour.
Day 5. Friday We depart and return home.
