Day 1. Saturday We depart and travel to Froghall Station for an included journey on the Churnet Valley Railway. Step back in time to a more leisurely and relaxing era as you dine in style aboard one of their beautifully restored period restaurant cars. As the scenic Churnet Valley countryside gently slips by your window, you’ll be served a delicious selection of traditional scones, cakes, and refreshments – a truly indulgent, quintessentially British treat. The vintage ambience of the dining carriage, complete with crisp linen, classic tableware, and heritage charm, offers a nostalgic experience reminiscent of a bygone age. The journey is made all the more special by the railway’s dedicated volunteers. Later this afternoon, we continue to Telford and the Mercure Telford. This evening, enjoy a three-course dinner.
Day 2. Sunday We depart after breakfast and begin our journey home, stopping en route to enjoy time in the charming town of Shrewsbury. Tucked into a loop of the River Severn near the Welsh border, this historic medieval market town is renowned for its winding cobbled streets, Tudor architecture, and vibrant atmosphere. Shrewsbury is a delightful blend of old and new, where picturesque black-and-white timber-framed buildings, ancient landmarks, and remnants of the original town walls sit comfortably alongside stylish shops, cafés, and modern developments. Whether you choose to explore the town’s rich heritage, browse its independent boutiques, or simply relax and soak up the scenery, there’s something here for everyone to enjoy. We depart later this afternoon to continue our journey home.
