Our itinerary includes a visit to the cathedral city of Ely, home to one of the UK’s most magnificent cathedrals, and to Lavenham, Britain’s best-preserved medieval village, filled with timber-framed buildings and centuries-old charm. Along the way, explore countryside, picturesque villages, and historic landmarks that together tell the story of the region’s rich cultural and artistic legacy. A delightful journey awaits.

Itinerary

Day 1. Friday We depart and travel to Ely, a city rich in history, charm, and beauty. Dominated by one of England’s most magnificent cathedrals, its unique Octagon Tower can be seen for miles around. As England’s second smallest city, Ely is compact and perfect for exploring on foot. The picturesque riverside is popular with visitors, offering relaxing boat trips, scenic walks, and chances to browse shops and galleries. Ely blends historic charm with delights, making it truly memorable. We depart later this afternoon for the journey to Huntingdon and the Delta Hotel by Marriott Huntingdon. This evening enjoy a three-course evening meal.

Day 2. Saturday Today we enjoy a scenic drive through the picturesque Suffolk villages, with visits to Bury St Edmunds and Lavenham. Surrounded by rolling countryside and steeped in over 1,000 years of history, Bury St Edmunds is the resting place of Saint Edmund, England’s original patron saint. Nestled in the heart of Suffolk, Lavenham is Britain’s best-preserved medieval village and one of the county’s most significant historic wool towns. Timber-framed buildings line narrow streets, offering medieval charm at every turn. This enchanting village provides a unique glimpse into England’s heritage, where history, culture, and beauty unite.

Day 3. Sunday We depart after breakfast for a visit to the university city of Cambridge. Brimming with stunning architecture and natural beauty, Cambridge is a picturesque town renowned for its rich history and world-class academic excellence. The compact city centre is perfect for leisurely exploring ancient colleges, charming cobbled streets, and the scenic “Backs” along the River Cam. Celebrating quintessential England and pioneering scientific research, Cambridge has produced famous graduates such as Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, and Professor Stephen Hawking. We depart later this afternoon to make our journey home.
